VERSION HISTORY

What changed in FinanzBar.

Every published desktop release since 1.0.0, compiled from FinanzBar’s product releases and Git history.

Current version Version 1.3.2

1.3.2A clearer view of your net worth and debts

FinanzBar brings financial assets, receivables, and debts into a new overview while improving usability, layout, and reliability throughout the app.

#

New

  • The new Net Worth & Debt overview combines positive account balances, recorded portfolio values, outstanding receivables, and personal debts to calculate your net financial worth.
  • Receivables and debts can be recorded with a counterparty, amount, due date, and status. Payments and repayments remain traceable through progress and history.
  • The dashboard now shows net financial worth and the number of open positions, with direct access to the detailed overview.

Design and usability

  • The top bar presents the current page, search, quick actions, household, and profile more clearly while remaining compact and usable in narrow windows.
  • Cards, forms, and dialogs use more consistent spacing and adapt more reliably to narrow windows and higher zoom levels; long file names in import history remain readable.

Reliability and fixes

  • PDF import now blocks ambiguous amounts, dates, and bank matches instead of guessing. Multi-line descriptions and transactions with identical amounts are preserved.
  • Local changes are fully rolled back when a save fails, and upgrades preserve existing data and settings more reliably.
  • Bills and linked transactions for private accounts remain hidden from household members who do not have permission to view them.
Version 1.3.1

1.3.1Safer imports and clearer paths through FinanzBar

FinanzBar can import more text-based PDF statements, makes document handling easier, and helps you reach key areas more clearly.

#

New

  • Text-based PDF bank statements can now also be imported with a generic importer, with dedicated support for C24.
  • The import preview indicates when a PDF format or individual transactions cannot be identified with enough confidence. Scanned PDFs without embedded text are still not imported automatically.

Improvements

  • Document preview now provides more reliable return navigation, an expanded view, and the option to open supported files in the default application.
  • The main and compact navigation have been organized more clearly, making sections and subpages easier to find.

Fixes

  • The actions for opening the support email and FinanzBar website work reliably again in the desktop client.
Version 1.3.0

1.3.0A more personal start and helpful guidance

An expanded getting-started area, help right inside FinanzBar, and more dependable actions make it easier to get started and use FinanzBar day to day.

#

New and improved

  • The getting-started area helps you choose an approach that suits you – from detailed account tracking and starting today to importing existing bank data – and suggests appropriate next steps.
  • In-context help explains key areas such as accounts, transactions, budgets, planning, and backups, and can take you to a relevant next action.
  • Actions for budgets and transactions are grouped more clearly and are easier to use.

Fixes

  • Menus, select lists, and dialogs stay reliably anchored when reopened and are less likely to overlap forms.
  • Forms, help, and other overlays behave more reliably in narrow windows and at higher zoom levels; contrast in the document dialog has also been improved in Dark mode.
Version 1.2.9

1.2.9Faster document workflows and more reliable setup

FinanzBar now guides users through their first steps and brings document preview, upload, and transaction assignment together with more reliable initial setup.

#

New and improved

  • A new getting-started guide introduces the most important areas and first actions in FinanzBar after setup.
  • PDF and image files can now be opened directly in an integrated preview.
  • Documents and receipts can be assigned to transactions.
  • Existing document assignments can be changed or removed from a transaction.
  • Documents can be uploaded and managed directly from transaction areas.
  • Document and assignment sections are clearer, with improved layouts, spacing, forms, and usability.

Fixes

  • Fixed a critical issue that could prevent initial setup from completing while the local database was temporarily locked.
  • Setup completion now handles temporary database locks reliably instead of ending with an unclear failure.
Version 1.2.8

1.2.8More confident planning with less routine work

FinanzBar combines explainable liquidity planning, new automation, and guided monthly close with a clearer dashboard and more dependable everyday use.

#

Planning and overview

  • Safe to Spend explains how much remains available after upcoming obligations, budget limits, reserves, and a safety buffer.
  • Guided monthly close brings open reviews, budget status, obligations, and backup health into one clear workflow.

Automation

  • Expanded transaction rules support combined conditions and multiple actions with preview, conflict checks, and controlled confirmation.
  • Subscriptions and other recurring payments are detected from local transaction patterns and affect planning only after explicit review.
  • Automatic, device-protected encrypted backups add scheduling, health status, verification, and retention. They run while FinanzBar is open, with missed runs caught up at the next start.

Calendar and budgets

  • Budget rollovers and reserve funds make planning across month boundaries easier to understand.
  • The new cash-flow, bills, and due-date calendar connects upcoming payments with the liquidity outlook.

Reliability

  • Duplicate or orphaned inbox tasks and excessive budget-rollover tasks are prevented or repaired.
  • Transaction-search edge cases have been fixed, and PIN unlock now shows visible progress.

Design and usability

  • Compact responsive navigation and more consistent page widths improve use in small windows and at higher zoom levels.
  • The dashboard, monthly flow, cost structure, and 12-month charts now provide a clearer, more polished presentation.
Version 1.2.7

1.2.7More control over imports and changes

FinanzBar brings open review tasks together, makes large transaction sets easier to search, and keeps critical changes traceable.

#

New features

  • A central financial inbox brings together imported transactions requiring review, uncertain categories, possible duplicates, import conflicts, missing receipts, and budget or savings-goal deviations.
  • Transaction search adds server-side filtering, sorting and paging, personal saved views, multi-selection, and safe bulk actions.
  • A central audit trail, trash, and controlled undo actions make critical changes traceable.
  • Portable raw-data export creates readable JSON and CSV files with a manifest and checksums; documents can be included optionally.
  • Global quick actions are available from the Ctrl+K command menu with favorites and recently used commands.

Improvements

  • The bank-file import pipeline detects CSV, CAMT, MT940, OFX and QIF, provides a preview, improves duplicate detection, and records provenance and audit data. No online-banking connection is included.
  • Dropdowns and selects behave more consistently across read-only, disabled, light, dark and high-contrast states.
  • The WCAG-oriented release gate checks areas including the skip link, navigation semantics, form labels, keyboard operation, focus management, zoom/reflow and forced colors.

Security and quality

  • PIN and recovery enrollment survives focus changes, Alt+Tab, minimizing, copying and printing.
  • Readable raw-data export is deliberately distinct from encrypted backups. The SQLite database remains unencrypted and is presented transparently.
  • Import, inbox, search, favorites and audit data are covered by migrations and regression tests.
Version 1.2.5

1.2.5More dependable backup and household control

Backups, transfers, permissions and app access became substantially more robust for everyday use.

#

New features

  • Backups include the database, stored settings and documents together. Restores are validated first and create a safety backup.
  • Proper account transfers are stored as one operation. Accounts can be reconciled, and dated balance adjustments remain traceable.
  • App access can be protected with a PIN; Windows Hello is available as an optional unlock method on compatible devices.

Improvements

  • Scheduled and recurring transactions complete more consistently, are protected from duplicate execution, and show their origin.
  • Household roles and permissions are enforced more consistently; private accounts and transactions remain hidden from unauthorized members.
  • Household currency, money entry, and German and English terminology were made more consistent.

Fixes

  • Future transactions no longer affect the current account balance.
  • Additional fixes cover account balance calculations, generated recurring transactions, locking when minimizing, and read-only currency display.
  • New documents and backups receive local protection; the SQLite database itself remains unencrypted.
Version 1.2.0

  • Page widths and content layouts are more consistent throughout the app.
  • A new unified loading screen accompanies startup.
